Who’s is the Ruckus?
We are a 5 piece band from the Duluth/Superior area! The band consists of Derek Ruport, Luke Fornengo, Nathan Young, TJ Fitzgerald, and Hendrick Hicks which started out as a cover band for Ides of March. After the performance we all decided that we played well together and eventually established Foosball Ruckus! We are most notable for our range in genres and our high energy set finishes with a funk original Queen of The Milky Way Galaxy.
All of us love playing music wherever we can, no matter the genre as long as we can play it! Our most notable locations for performances are; The Back Yard, Wussows Music Cafe, Bent Paddle, The Flame (Duluth MN), and Pizza Luce. We’ve played for events such as Ides of March and Homegrown as well as JAM Duluth for jazz appreciation month.
The Band
Derek Ruport
Our nerdy, zanny, pragmatic front man Derek Ruport, always finds a way to brighten up the darkest rooms. His love for music stems from making it with his best friends. He’s been playing trumpet since the 6th grade and making a Ruckus since birth.
Nathan Young
Has been playing guitar since he was 10 years old, learning melodies to his favorite songs. His two favorite guitarists are Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vahn. Not only does he love shredding on guitar, he enjoys a quiet night in the home studio making beats, lofi and various other styles of music.
Luke Fornengo
Fueled by quiet nights on the lake shore, he fell in love with bass and a notebook at a young age. His biggest inspiration for writing rises from Modest Mouse and Pink Floyd. He started combining his poetry and music in college and hasn’t turned back since.
TJ Fitzgerald
The youngest member of the quintuple. He grew his young luster from his passion for guitar and auto mechanics. Some of his favorite tunes to play come from Avenge Seven Fold and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. He might just fix your car if you ask him!
Hendrick Hicks
Hendrick orchestrates his rhythms like no other. His upbringing in jazz combined with his pure passion for drumming has led him to pursue a music teaching bachelors and masters in drumming. Some of his favorite sounds come from Paramore, Art Blakey, Green Day, Chicago, and Benny Goodman Big Band.
